Reflection Journal #3

Many of my teachers used the grammar exercise book to teach us grammar. The teachers would take an example sentence from the grammar book and explain the grammar point using a lot of technical terms. Then the teachers would ask us to complete the excercise in the grammar book.


I did not enjoy the process at all. I felt that it was pointless to learn the rules. I did not see the point of learning the grammar rules because I did not know how to use it when it came to writing. Also, the process of learning the rules is dull. There was no fun listening to rules after rules.


I personally do not agree with the way grammar is taught nowadays. The currect way of teaching grammar is only making the students dislike English. It is giving the students a sense that English is only about rules.
